Juan Ramon Barrera, born October 31, 1950, in Laredo, Texas, passed away on October 9, 2026, in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Juan will be remembered as a warm and spirited man whose joyful nature drew people to him with ease. He loved to dance, enjoyed going to parties, and could easily make friends wherever he went. His lively personality brought happiness to many, and he was known for embracing life with enthusiasm and charm.
He also found delight in the simple pleasures that made him uniquely himself. Juan liked to play the lottery often, and he especially loved Halloween, taking great pride in putting on costumes and winning Halloween costume contests. Among the many fond memories he leaves behind is being named Valentine King at La Guadalupana Adult Day Care, a moment that reflected both his vibrant spirit and the affection others had for him.
Juan is survived by his sisters, Alba Elvia Barrera and Ana Cristina Castaneda, and by his brothers, Guillermo Julian Barrera, Ruben Eduardo Barrera, and Luis Carlos Barrera. He also leaves behind the lasting love and memory of his family, who will continue to cherish the moments they shared with him and the joy he brought into their lives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Martha Barrera Garza, and his father, Pedro Barrera Montemayor. He was also preceded in death by his step-brothers Hector Barrera, Pedro Barrera Jr., Arnaldo Barrera, and Reynaldo Barrera, and by his step-sisters Gloria Botello and Laurentina Busse.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Riojas Funeral Home, 1451 S Veterans Blvd, Eagle Pass, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A second visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Riojas Funeral Home. A Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 2055 Williams St., Eagle Pass, Texas. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 3600 McPherson Rd, Laredo, Texas.
Juan Ramon Barrera will be remembered for his friendliness, his love of celebration, and the happiness he shared so freely with others. His memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
