From her early days in Palau, Coahuila, she established strong roots, holding dear the traditions and values instilled in her by her family and homeland. She is remembered with great affection and respect by her surviving son, Jose Luis Veloz Herrera, and her daughter-in-law, Dora Veloz, 4 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren who all shared close and meaningful bonds with Maria Luisa. Her guidance, encouragement, and unwavering love will remain a cherished legacy for them.

Maria Luisa was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Veloz Ochoa, whose memory she lovingly honored throughout her life. She also mourned the loss of her sisters, Maria De Jesus Herrera and Carolina Herrera, and her brother, Manuel Herrera, Jr. The deep connections she fostered with her late family members were sources of strength and inspiration that enriched her life.

Services for Maria Luisa Herrera De Veloz’s life will be held at Riojas Funeral Home, located at 1451 S Veterans Blvd, Eagle Pass, TX 78852. Visitation will take place on July 30, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together and remember her life and legacy. A rosary will be recited at the funeral home on the same day from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Cremation services are planned and pending at Riojas Funeral Home.
