Maria Del Patrocinio Lopez, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on February 17, 2026, in Eagle Pass, Texas. Born on March 17, 1946, in Calabazal, Zacatecas, Mexico, Maria lived a life that spanned nearly eight decades, filled with love, resilience, and devotion to her family.

Maria was the cherished wife of the late Benito Lopez and the devoted mother of seven children: Rosa Castillo, Belen Galvan who preceded in passing, Margarita Lopez, San Juanita Lopez, Maria De Jesus Lopez, Juliana Lopez Rodriguez, and Benito Lopez, Jr. Her legacy continues through her 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren, who carry forward the values and traditions that she instilled in them.

Throughout her life, Maria was a source of strength and inspiration to her family and friends. She navigated the challenges of life with grace and a steadfast spirit, evident in her enduring relationships with her loved ones. In addition to her role as a matriarch, she was a caring sister to her surviving siblings, Andrea Palacios and Maria De Jesus Garcia Palacios, and she will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Maria was preceded in death by several family members who went before her, including her husband Benito Lopez, her daughter Belen Galvan, and her sisters Ana Maria Ferron, Hermila Salas, Genoveva Chavarria, and San Juana Riojas, as well as her brothers Agustin Salas and Julian Salas. Their memories will remain a cherished part of her rich history and the family she nurtured.

Visitation will be held on February 19, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Riojas Funeral Home, located at 1451 S Veterans Blvd, Eagle Pass, TX, with a Rosary commencing at 5:00 PM. Continued visitation will take place on February 20, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, leading up to a Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 AM. The culmination of Maria's farewell will occur at Our Lady of Refuge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest at 12:00 PM.
